To lead the next development stage, Aker BioMarine wanted to restructure into reporting segments based on products and market segments to enhance transparency, focus, and flexibility. Knowit’s management consultants was engaged to drive the company through this transformation process.

Effective project management for smooth restructuring

To lead the company through this restructuring, Knowit applied extensive project management in collaboration with internal resources at Aker BioMarine. The project ensured broad involvement of key resources in the company, strong focus on tactical and strategic alignment, close monitoring of progress and detailed plans, conscious risk management, and strong focus on effective problem-solving when needed. The project also ensured alignment and clarifications across business areas in the company and with the overall program. Through this, the project ensured that customers and suppliers were minimally affected by the restructuring, while maintaining the company’s ability to operate normally in the supply chain. 

The team from Knowit was an essential contributor to the successful delivery of the restructuring, despite tight deadlines and very challenging issues. RESULT

New operational infrastructure and deliverable supply chain

The result of the restructuring project was a fully operational digital infrastructure and operational value chain under a new legal corporate structure from early 2024. Reconfigurations of ERP and adjacent systems operated with minimal errors from day one, and the complex supply chain was deliverable according to new reporting segments. These effects enabled Aker BioMarine to report to the market and investors on the new structure from the desired time, realizing an important part of the company’s strategic vision.
