PRESS RELEASE

Knowit strengthens its position in the defense sector

NON REGULATORY

Knowit has for many years been a central player in the military and civil defense, in close collaboration with both the Swedish Armed Forces, the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration, and the defense industry. With high-tech competence and long experience, Knowit is at the forefront of development of new defense products and services. Now, this position is further strengthened through the recruitment of Nina Larsson as CEO for the subsidiary Knowit Dataunit.

The worsening security situation, Sweden’s membership in NATO, and an increased focus on defense within the EU, combined with fast technology development, increase the motivation to further speed up digitalization. Continued digitalization and modernization of the various parts of the total defense is a key success factor, where private and public players must collaborate.

“Knowit has, thanks to our high technical competence, been able to contribute to increased robustness in various parts of society, and through our high-performing solutions, we have had close collaborations with the Swedish defense industry. We have developed these collaborations over the years, with our competence being put to use in digital transformation, cybersecurity, and organizational development, strongly contributing to strengthening Sweden’s capacity for resistance,” says Per Wallentin, President of Knowit.

“We are now strengthening our competence further through the recruitment of Nina Larsson, who supplements Knowit with deep competence and long experience as a leader and consultant in military and civil defense. With Nina onboard, I look forward to building strong partnerships with important players in military and civil defense, and simultaneously building growth in the sector for Knowit,” says Per Wallentin, President of Knowit.

Nina Larsson will take on her role at Knowit at the turn of the year, coming most recently from a role as Chief of Staff and Consulting Manager at the consultancy firm 4C Strategies. Nina also has a background as a member of parliament, having started her career as an officer within the Swedish Armed Forces.

“I greatly look forward to becoming part of Knowit and contributing with my experience. In the role as head of operations in the subsidiary Dataunit, I will get the chance to build on the strong confidence that Knowit has as a supplier of high-performing solutions in communication, management, and control systems for military and civil defense. The worsening security situation we are currently seeing will, regrettably, be at hand for a long time. This increases the importance of secure communication solutions,” says Nina Larsson.

Knowit Dataunit has been developed and operated under the management of CEO Mats Thorstenson, who has held the position as CEO since 2008. Nina Larsson will become CEO in connection with Mats’ retirement.

“Mats has been an incredibly important person in building the strong position that Knowit currently has in the defense sector. Knowit Dataunit would not be the successful company it is today without Mats’ strong leadership and ability to build long-term business relationships. In closing, I want to thank Mats for all our years of close and successful collaboration,” says Per Wallentin.
